100 days ago we launched our campaign to free Mikhail and Alexander Kononovich, our Ukrainian comrades who were abducted and brutally tortured by the Ukrainian regressive regime.

We at the World Federation of Democratic Youth, are following with great concern this ongoing arrest, which we call kidnapping under false accusations and without the minimum human rights to call a lawyer.

We reaffirm that the suffering of comrades Kononovich will be the responsibility of both the Ukrainian government and the imperialists of NATO, the European Union and the United States, who support this criminal regime. Therefore, we demand their immediate release and call for increased solidarity to stop the injustice of the abduction of comrades Mikhail and Alexander Kononovich.

Guided by a common instinct of self-preservation and fear of serious injury or unwanted death they are not ready to sacrifice themselves. Ukraine: Death before dishonour!

An open letter to Workers World from Mikhail and Alexander Kononovich Dear Comrades We would like to first draw your attention, comrades, to the fact that we, communists and anti-fascists, brothers Mikhail Kononovich and Alexander Kononovich, were arrested for our many years of “Komsomol [Communist Youth League] for Peace” actions, which we held in all the cities of Ukraine, starting in 2014.  The last action was two weeks before the full-scale war of 2022 began, held near the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine with the main slogan “No to NATO – Peace for Donbas!” Only communist anti-fascists advocated for peace in Ukraine. We tried to prevent the “Third World War.” That is why being a communist and anti-fascist in Ukraine is already a crime. Since our arrest on 2nd March 2022, we have been in the dungeons of the SBU (Ukrainian secret police) and prisons for eight months, subjected to beatings, torture, abuse, deprived of sleep in solitary confinement and in inhumane conditions...

Britain joins the war in Ukraine

by K Hill While the US has brought about regime change in Ukraine with the Maidan coup in 2014, installing a thinly disguised neo-Nazi government of Banderites and corrupt politicians to loot its resources, sell its land and saddle it with massive debts thanks to dodgy IMF loans, the UK has been heavily involved in the training of their military – now the second largest European army (after Turkey) in NATO.  The UK involvement has involved everything from bringing Ukrainian commanders for "special training" in the UK, Nazi tattoos on show much to the embarrassment of the British media, to the existence of special advisors, in reality SAS and SBS units, to supervise "on the ground" the attacks on Snake Island and Kerch Bridge.  This is the real reason our British press has been so obsessed with these two "targets" over the past two years, despite their lack of strategic importance, because they are great PR and distract the British public from the grim real...
