by a Kiev observer Early in the morning of 6 February 2026 a man attempted to kill Russian General Vladimir Alekseyev. Around 7 am the killer, posing as a food delivery courier opened fire on Alekseyev outside his flat in Moscow. One bullet hit him in the leg and two in the body. The unarmed general grappled with the gunman who then fled the scene. Though badly wounded the general is now recovering in hospital. On the same day the Ukrainian media outlet ‘Новини.LIVE’ reported that the assassination attempt was apparently aimed at disrupting Russian-Ukrainian peace talks. A source in the Ukrainian presidential administration immediately commented on the situation: “The most likely version is that a third party attempted to disrupt the negotiations in its own interests.
