Solidarity with Gaza and the Donbas in Dublin

Activists gathered last Saturday in front of the General Post Office in O'Connell Street, central Dublin, to call for an end to arms supplies to Ukraine and Israel, and an end to NATO aggression in Ukraine and Yemen and Israel's brutal military operation in the Gaza Strip. The protesters also called for ceasefires in Ukraine, Gaza and Yemen. The General Post Office, built in the early 19th century when Ireland was a British colony, is one of the Irish capital’s famous land-marks because it served as the headquarters of the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising against British rule in Ireland. 

Activists  from the Truth and Neutrality Alliance that is based in Ireland, the New Communist Party of Britain and International Ukraine Anti Fascist Solidarity (IUAFS) took part  along with citizens from Russia and Croatia. The IUAFS is a united front supported by the NCP, Socialist Fight, the Consistent Democrats and the British Posadists as well as individual labour movement activists

Nato press gangs in Ukraine

by a Kiev observer   American imperialism continues to ruin all states that call themselves democratic and independent. In fact, many countries have already lost their independence. Some lost it along with their currency; others by giving away their army. The White House continues to hide its financial greed behind the illusion of possible global protection. At the same time, regular workers and civil servants have difficulty understanding what is really behind the foolish statements of “collective security” peddled by the bourgeois media. Ukraine: A Search for Identity and Freedom

by John Maryon Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusians are predominantly from the East Slav sub-group of the Slavic people.  Crimean Tatars form an important ethnic group of the population of Crimea.  The fertile lands of mineral rich Ukraine were for centuries shared between the Poles and the Mongols.  By 1500 the Ottoman empire had expanded and taken over South East Ukraine and Crimea.  In 1654, following years of conflict with the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Cossack leader of Ukraine pledged allegiance to the Czardom of Russia in exchange of protection. Russian influence increased and in 1797 Catherine the Great established the port city of Odessa and the region became an important part of the Russian Empire.  Today most people have heard of the Crimean War, Florence Nightingale, Balaclava and the Charge of the Light Brigade.   It was an imperialist conflict for Middle East influence between Russia and an alliance of France, Britain and Turkey....
